Need GPU </budget>

I always enter the amount I am happy to pay up to and then if a sniper takes it then I would not have wanted to pay more anyway.
 
I cannot believe that both the 8600GT and the HD2900XT are being recommended in any form or shape! :p

I always thought the 8600GT was the beginning of the end for nVidia and the HD2900XT was just really **** for a gamer who likes anti aliasing and was a power sucking loud sob! :D

both are bad but u really need to spend bit more to have something better

Counterstrike is the only game he's listed as wanting to play, and for a budget of £30, either card will handle it fine.
 
For less than £30... I dont think you can find any 9600GTs/8800GT/HD38xx

Maybe look for X1950 PRO 512 or 8600GTS. The ATi is better though.

Most of the ones recommended here are great but i dout that you can find them that cheap on the bay
 
I wouldnt recommend the 8600 either :P i jst need it off my shelf and a new keyboard or mousemat on my desk hehe. it does alright for most games, bioshock, css, even does a bit of farcry 2 xD. but i wouldnt go with any of the cards that you linked :/

anything less than a 8800, 9600 isint worth buying me thinks. especially in this day and age with the games around.
 
Yeah if totally skint and you can't afford £45 for a GeForce 8800GT then the next legendary card would be the X1950Pro, should be able to get one of those for about £25 no?
 
Well, he does want it for Counter strike... and he did say he doesn't want to spend more than £30, so i don't see why we hammer him with options that he can't afford.

X1950/equivelant nvidia level of power should be more than enough

Hell, i used to play half life 2 maxed out on my X800 PRO with 256 MB of slow GDDR3
