Hi All

I am looking to improve my VR experience in DCS (Flight Sim) I know that VRAm really helps and can pick up a decent Asus Rog Strix 1080ti for £500 2nd hand. I am having a bit of a dilemma however as I am aware that the RTX Super cards will be out soon and with a possible price drop which means I might be be to pick up a 2080(super) for an extra 100 quid or so that may offer better performance than the 1080ti.
Should I hold or just go for the 1080ti?

Afaik Turing GPUs do quite a bit better in VR than Pascal, BUT I'd highly doubt a Super 2080 (if it even exists) would sell for £600 this year. Probably more a 2070 ti, which will be slightly below a 2080, but likely also £500ish.

I doubt you'll be able to get a 2080(super) for £600, whatever that is beyond speculation and assumption.

imho you should ask the DCS forums they are pretty open and honest about hardware performance.

I know nothing about flight sims, VR and the required hardware, but is there a reason the Radeon VII is not a consideration here?

Do what I'm doing mate, wait for the 2080ti to come to £500-550 in the winter (when its too cold to go outside anyway ;))

I don't know too much about the Radeon VII and there doesn't seem to be a lot of information in the DCS community about how it handles.

It's on par with the RTX 2080 and has 16GB of very fast VRAM. So but there's always quirks and caveats. It could be worth looking into.
