hi i just got asus5870 which i replaced a 8800gtx.everything went fine installing it untill i switched the pc on.it taken about 10minutes to get into windows.so then i installed the drivers for it.then i rebooted the pc.but same thing again, taken about 10minutes .i ran battlefield bad company 2 and it works great.so it cant be the card itself.so i thought there may be old nvidia stuff around.so i decided to reformat and install windows.but it taken about 1 hour to install.normally it takes about 20minutes.so now all i have installed is windows 7 from fresh but it still takes about 10minutes to boot. Also i have reset the bios so everything is not overclocked.tried the leads to the gpu.i dont know whats causing this to happen any ideas?

using windows7 32bit ,asus striker extreme, the psu is hiperm 880w.the psu has 2 sli leads so i have used the 6pin plugs from these.
i am really stuck now, anyhelp would be great.

An off-topic question...but why are you only installing 32-bit Win 7, when you got 4GB of rams? 32-bit OS can only see a total of 4GB or memory, and that's PC memory and graphic card memory combined...

oh another thing I noticed from your sig...your current CPU is bottlenecking your 5870 big time...your 5870 is probably not any faster than a 5770 as it is if your CPU is at stock speed...

yes m8,i was thinking of this so when i get more money thats next on my list.quad core.but they are still pricey considering the new cpus are out now.just going to upgrade slowly.but first i need this card to work.

Almost definately a BIOS/mobo problem.
I have a issue with my mobo and 5870's, where the PC takes a few seconds longer to actually come on/power up after a cold boot. No BIOS has fixed it yet.

Problems like this are quite common with ATI. They need to work harder with motherboard manufacturers (and game makers aswell for that matter).

been looking around and u are right.theres a major problem with asus boards and i know they have brought some fixes out for the extreme 2.cant see why they left mine out:mad: yes i cleared the cmos.
