Jesus wept.

Please help me...

Ive been asked to do something, print out some stuff design a few cards.

Im buying some 350gsm card and it has a "satin silk finish" Satin Silk coated paper

I understand MATT and GLOSS but ... what is satin slik and can you give me an everyday example i might have in the house.

so sorry to ask such a randomly nub question.:p

why is Smooth Gloss suitable for inkjet but Satin Silk finish not. Surely the shiny one is worse?

printer for many years here
bond or cartridge paper not coated soaks up ink but dries quickly
Gloss needs much less ink so dries quicker and gives better results hence why gloss is also known as art paper
Matt art tends to dry quickly but can rub as it semms to never fully dry
silk satin is midway between gloss and matt and was always the one that would setoff ie the print would be on the back of the sheet above in the stack.
so needed handling with the most care.
most bank, building society booklets tend to be printed on silk
