Hi,

I had overclocked my E6750 previously to 3Ghz no problem.

Having been off the boil with PC gaming / overclocking for a bit now, I am just starting to get back into it again.

The problem is my CPU will no longer hold my overclock. On its boot up after fiddling in the bios, it just reverts back to the standard 2.66ghz every time no matter what I change! (I have change my motherboard battery also a few days back just incase). Am i missing something so simple?

The set up is:

CPU: e6750

Ram: 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800), 240 Pins, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, CAS 5-5-5-18

Motherboard: Gigabyte 965P-S3

Graphics: ATi 4870 - 512mb

600w power supply

I think the problem could be related with my ram memory and the mhz clock / timing or possible voltage to the components weather CPU / memory or PCI express (everything is back to standard at mow).

If anyone can give us some tips and the setting to put stuff / voltage at? I would be grateful :)

ideally I want to give over 3ghz this time with my CPU and hold on the reboot.

have you tried putting a new CMOS battery in and try that

By CMOS battery do you mean the battery on the motherboard as I have just replaced that in the past week. Can't get my head round why it wont hold any overclock anymore : ( I must surely just missing something stupid, which is stopping it taking place.

Could it be anything with my power supply unit? Its a 600w, but it just wasn't the most expensive 600w you can get! but does seem to do the trick and powers my ATi 4870 fine.

found a article on another site with the same issues your having and it seems that gigabyte has an issue with some of that model board updating or downgrading the bios can help apparently
