Hi all

I got a new processor and want to overclock it a bit, but I can't find anything in the bios.

I have a msi mobo, I have been on there website and tried updating and it doesn't work.

Can somebody please help?!

i bought this same processor yesterday and only just started the comp up and im about to overclock it now.
This is where i find it but i have a ASUS borad so this is prob no help at all but anyway.... i got to the 'advanced' tab then jumper free config, and the one below it and then finally into memory

do you know how to overclock? if you don't then i suggest you learn before you go messing mate :D

well i sorta do, but my mate does and he cant find anything to enable me to overclock it, its a shame that i cant as my temps are at 27 C and i wana get a bit more out of it

Have you tried ClockGen? if it has the PLL for your motherboard then it should enable you to overclock in Windows.

If you can't find any software apps that allow the mobo to overclock and there isn't any BIOS options then the only other way is by finding a modded BIOS that allows overclocking, if there is one available.

What chipset does the motherboard use?

is it a comp you have built yourself?

my bro had one of those £400 comp's for christmas (the one with flat panel monitor etc) and it has a 3200+ i tried looking to overclock it as his temps were about 26 but i couldnt find anything anywhere, must be a mobo restriction or something

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I bought one of these from OcUK when they were down at just £23 (well, I ordered 2 by error). It's winging it's way on Royal Mail Second Class so it's going to be a while before I get it. If you got this from Overclockers UK, let me know how it's clocking! :D

(that is, if you plan on overclocking it)

As for the original poster, do you know exactly what motherboard model you have? If you don't, download CPU-Z from www.cpuid.com, open it and head over to the "MAINBOARD" tab. Either post a screenshot of the tab or tell us the model number. Then we may be able to help you, accordingly :)

sorry for not replying guys

Its a Compaq ready built jobby, its got a pretty good fan, im using clockgen and i still think theres more to this cpu (its @ 2.4 the highest itll go). Everest says that this is the mobo MSI RS482M2/RX482M2 (MS-7093), looking on the bios and it says the version is from 31/08/2005 :( . I try to update but nothing happens. my mate says that flashing the bios is the only way but a number of google searches have failed to give me an answer, also I don't have a floppy drive so if I do have to do this it has to be from cd.

Thanks for the replies guys and any help will be apprieciated

I have never personally been a fan of programs that overclock, i just seem to get way better results from doing the good old fashioned way, pc seems to freeze up a lot more using the programs

well I'd like to do it the old fashioned way but I can't, are there any universal bios that can be used on all mobos of that sort (if you get what i mean) 1 bios for all similar mobo

ok just been on cpu-z and it say that my mobo is amethyst-m, i googled that and others have had the same problems, yet the user guide says that "This motherboard is designed to support overclocking" I'd like to see how!
