NEED HELP ASAP! Computer shuts down on heavy load, gaming or stress testing.

Yeah, lots of people underestimate the importance of the PSU - you need a good one to power all the hungry things you put in a PC. It's a false economy to get a cheapo no-name unit.

+1 for psu, is your card running on a dedicated rail or does it have other stuff sharing the amps?

What's the amp rating of your psu on each rail?

How much do you have running on it?

You could disconnect everything, bridge the pins on the Atx connector to put the psu on, then check the consistency of the output on each rail, or make sure your gpu has one or two dedicated rails powering it and unplug and unnecessary stuff and test it.

Often it could be due to either a psu dying, too much draw or bad wiring.

If in doubt though, get a decent psu.

sorry just read you ordered one, trying to speak to the Missus and littleun while replying to threads on my phone isn't a good idea lol.

Cheap psu's are bad news though, I had a 800w one from maplins in an old pc, it had max amps on a 12v rail of like 28!!! As mentioned on here a lot of people think wattage and not how strong the psu actually is.
