Hi all.

I want to treat myself to some filters that I hope will alllow me to experiment more with my photography.
I want a 10 stop ND to do the 'misty water' effect and a soft graduated neutral density filter for sunrises etc.

I have read an article about the pros and cons of circular vs square and I think I would rather go for square as I really like to shoot sunrises and apparently it's easier when using square to align to the horizon.

the 2 lenses I use most are both Ø72mm. I have a 12mm focal length Samyang too but I cannot find the diameter marking for it - let's forget it for now.

I don't want to spend a fortune but Im good with each filter costing say £40-70. (is this realistic?)

here's my dilemma:- there are so many different manufacturers and A LOT of information about adapter rings and it's just information overload, I can't deal with it.

Can someone just recommend me a system to go with - I need the 'holder' as well as the filters.

thank you so much!

I can only reiterate I finally settled on the coking P Evo (medium) system for simplicity. For Landscape work I never went above 67mm. This system afforded the advantage of using the cheaper resin based filter kits for good results before later purchasing the more expensive creative Nuances Extreme filters that worked in the same system. You can also attach a 95mm Polariser to this system. If I remember correctly a 72mm would require the large size system as opposed to the medium but it would be wise to check this if you are interested. I also have the large Cokin system holder called the Z-Pro which I bought for about £20.00 second hand. You are able to use step up and down rings on both sized systems etc with certain limitations.

Other people might recommend something else but I am happy with the above-far more than the screw in filters I own. Hopefully food for thought.

72mm is fine with 100mm (medium size) it's only when you have the lenses with a bulbous front element (Nikon 14-24 for example) you need 150mm.

@Mittens - I've got a set of LEE filters (adapter rings/holder/polariser/ND/ND grads) that cover what you need, drop me a line (via my website, link in sig) if you're interested =)

Thanks for the clarification. I couldn't remember off the "top of my head".
