I'm consdiering upgrading to a 34" widescreen.

PC is mostly gaming with some browsing, photo editing and the odd document. Unless strong reasons against, only looking at IPS panels.

Short listed :-

LG 34GN850 - leaning towards this one
LG 34GN950 - I have Nvidia card in the PC and not sure whether it matters to me "that much" the 950 is native G Sync. Not bothered about HDR.
ASUS XG349C - not many reviews around, nothing bad said about it but £300 than the LG 850.

Discounted the Alienware OLED due to burn in worry and text issues (from what I've read anyway)

Plenty of others but either VA panels or not curved.

Think the 850 will suit but just want to check opinion before pulling the trigger .

I'd suggest reconsidering this if your budget allows.

Yes, burn in is potentially an issue, but it's covered by the 3 year warranty.

The text clarity problem is severely exaggerated, yes its not quite as crisp as it maybe could be, but it's only really noticeable if you literally have your face against the monitor looking for it. I have mine about 60cm from my eyes, staring at text in Visual Studio 8 hours a day and it really isn't a problem.

Both of the above issues pale into insignificance after seeing how good it looks when you fire up a game ;)

yes , I can confirm , regarding text clarity , I think is very nit picking , I am coming from LG34GK950 and I can not honestly say that I noticed any difference from 60 -80 cm away

Surely the AW OLED is a better screen than the LG 34GN850 for only a few quid more ?

I'm in a similar situation and can't decide but learning towards the AW for that better screen
