Hi guys,

I’m looking for a ‘gaming’ laptop to get my little brother for Christmas. We have a budget of around £500-£700.

I know he loves to play fm18 and Minecraft and he likes watching PUBG on twitch so I’d like for the laptop to be able to run those games smoothly. Also I’d like it to be able to handle some light photoshop work as he is getting into photography.

Thank you in advance

That's asking a bit out of a laptop. For pubg reference a 6700hq, 32gb ddr4 and a GTX 970 6gb play it well enough at 1080p up to 1440.. this is a game that doesn't run awesome on any hardware.

You might get away with a machine running a 960 or similar but finding something in budget might be an issue.

Thanks for the reply, I know next to nothing about laptops/PC's specs or anything like that so appreciate the help.

Pubg is not a necessity as I believe it is coming out on xbox soon however, FM18/Minecraft/Photoshop need to run nicely. I just googled some of the stuff you said and the following laptop came up. Would this be enough for those things?

EDIT: Sorry just realised you can't post links, the laptop is 'MSI GL62M 7RDX Gaming Laptop'.

Just had a look at that machine and it comes in many specs. put simply yes assuming it is the following spec:
  • Intel Core i5-7300HQ 2.5GHz
  • 8GB RAM + 1TB HDD
  • 15.6" Full HD + Windows 10
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 2GB
It wont have a lot of trouble with all of the above you want to run, it should even cope quite nicely with pubg @ 1080p :)
