Hello,

I've done a lot of research into a new LED TV, preferably a 50" or 47". I've got my eyes set on a Sony Bravia KDL-50W656 however I'm still not 100% if I have selected a decent TV?

My price tag is no higher than £700.

I mainly want an LED TV for gaming (ps4), watching movies and other general use.

Should I wait for the 2014 line up for Sony ? Will there be new features on the W6 series? But probably be more expensive I take it.

Anyone own a KDL 50w656 ? If so can you please give me a review?

Look forward to your suggestions!

Thank you in advance :)

I have the kdl50w656 and its awesome for gaming. Low input lag and great picture quality.
Movies look great as does HD content. SD looks passable but wont win any awards.

My advice is make sure you buy from somewhere decent like john lewis or richer sounds so you have the no quibble returns as LED tvs aren't without their issues such as banding and clouding etc.

Theres an owners thread on AV forums that is worth a read through http://www.avforums.com/threads/sony-w6-owners-thread.1776014/

I believe the equivalent 2014 model is going to be lower spec and cheaper

Thank you for replying! I'm pleased gaming and HD content is awesome! At the end of the day what TV actually procudes amazing SD quality? ha.

I've had a look at that forum before but mainly talking about the 42inch 653 version :/

So it's best to buy the 2013 model over the 2014 as it will have lower spec? :O

Can you tell me about the motion rate on the TV? As I've heard some issues with users complaining about it. Have you ever experienced jugger in the Sony screen?

They are advertised as having 200mhz motion flow, however they don't actually have it on the set. hence people complaining, there is even a petition been started asking Sony to add it back in via firmware :D

I haven't experienced much judder personally, odd bit during football but certainly not enough to ruin the experience.

Hmmm I've seen the petition doesn't seem like its going to get anywhere?!

Without the motion flow is it a bad idea to buy the 50w656 in this century?

I've just looked at prcdirect again and they offer 50w656 for £695 and Sony KDL47W807 for £699. Which one would you go for?
