Alright Guys,

Need some help. Been out the game a long time as far as Displays are concerned and am looking for a descent monitor to replace my aging 24".

I'm using on-board HD4400 Intel graphics.

Main use is just casual surfing and general desktop use and watching the odd movie. NO GAMING!

Budget is £400.
Something around 28-32".

Hope some one can help?

Cheers

Any preference of resolution for screen? assuming your looking for 1440P+ due to size of screen?

Hi,

1080p would be fine otherwise I would need to get a new GPU to handle the extra load.

However, I would be willing to get a new GPU for max £100 to get anything greater than 1080p.

Cheers

If you watch a lot of movies, I wouldn't recommend going 1440p.

You can do widescreen 2560x1080, perhaps. Just realize that a 28" 21:9 monitor will be the same height as a 23" 16:9, so may actually feel a bit smaller than a 24". You need 32" 21:9 if you want equivalent of a 27" 16:9.

A 32" might be too big I think because I wouldn't be sat far enough for it. What I need is a 28" monitor which isn't wide-screen by I can't seem find one. It's all wide-screen now

A 32" 2560x1080 21:9 monitor will have roughly the same pixel density as a 27" 1920x1080 16:9.

Is there some reason that 27" wont do? :/ Not sure why you're so hung up on 28".

I sit about 60cm away from screen (just the way the space is setout) so was thinking a 32" would be too big and too in my face hence wanting 28".

Also, would a 32" not be too much for my onboard Intel HD4400?

Im a noob at this and my quest to find a new monitor is now in its 2nd week and im growing impatient and i know if i dont get one in the next few days i'll end up spending the money on something else so i need a suggestion for a monitor that will see me through the next few years and be a good monitor with good colours and not be washed out.

If the above means going over my budget by a bit then so be it.

What monitor would you recommend?
