Need help deciding between these two laptops

Hi,

I am going to university in September and I am looking for a nice 15.6" laptop. I will be using it for work, watching films / tv and a little bit of gaming (mainly the new Star Wars MMO and APB when they are released). My budget is around £700. I have been able to narrow my search to the Acer 5740g and Sony Vaio E Series. I have heard a few horror stories of Acers but hear that their new laptops are quite good. I have also heard that the 5650 in the Sony is a slower clock speed than in other laptops. I'd really appreciate any input and perhaps other alternatives to these.

I'd go with the Sony. Sony's are shweet. It's got blu-ray instead of DVD RW, if that's a problem.

Sony have bad technical support.
Acer are unreliable.

I would buy a toshiba or a dell.

I have looked into Toshibas and Dells however Toshiba only offer a HD 5145 with the L505 series however they will refund the money if England win the World Cup (I can only dream). The Studio 15 can only have a 5470M. Only the Studio 17 has a 5650M and I think a 17" would be too big for me to carry around.
