Guys,

I have recently purchased the HD470x2 2gb jobby :) and know that this card really performs at higher resolutions therefore I was looking into getting a 26" screen..... but which one

I am after one which has none or as low as possible input lag (as I play a lot of fps games) with HDMI input.

I have read numerous reviews and the more I read the more confussed I get so would be better from people that already have the relevant monitors...

My budget is £400 - £450 and from what I have read so far everyone is going for "Samsung", "Hanns-G", "Dell"

So I would be grateful to anyone that can give me advice in making this tough decision :p

Hi Franco

I've been looking at the Viewsonic VX2640w. If you dont mind a TN panel, the rest of the spec looks excellent for the money. Available for about £330 - £350

Sadly i havent found any site reviews of this yet, though there was one lengthy user review (sorry, cant remember the forum), but he rated it highly.

There can't be a whole lot of choice of 26" tft under £500; should make it a bit easier.
TN is the most common panel format for gaming monitors, it allows very fast update speed but can suffer from image fading if you dont view it dead centre.

well i have a 22" at the mo and wanted something bigger and better and thought it a bigger jump to 26" than to 24".

No still undecided :(

Have seen this samsung T260HD with Digi box is it any good ??

Whats is a TN panel ??
Twisted Nematics LCD matrix is most commonly used one because it's cheapest to make.
You can tell it from upper edge of image being darker and complete "black out"/weird distortion of colours when you look from down angle, like that third monitor

As positive response times are somewhat better than those of other panel types but without RTC (Response Time Compensation) it's actual performance can be notably slower than that of others with RTC. (marketed response times have very little to do with reality)

Why do you need a 26" monitor? Why don't you look at the 24" ones instead. They both run at the same resolution
Actually there's one thing which can be considered as advantage, you can keep monitor slightly farther which reduces eye stress. (focusing closer is harder for eye)

I personally am going to go for the new Iiyama 26" monitor...

D-Sub
DVI
HDMI (but cant work out from online manual if it supports 1:1 mapping)
1000:1 static contrast ratio
4000:1 dynamic contrast ratio

So pretty decent specs for all of £270 quid... Seems it gets stocked in various online retailers on the 2nd of next month. Can't wait.

Yes, but I hope we all realise that impressive looking specs != impressive monitor most of the time (DCR for instance is a particular bugbear of mine).

Yea thats the one (E2607WS-1 or E2607WSV-1 for people who want really really cheap but with only D-Sub).

Well static contrast of 1000:1 is relatively good by any standard, the LG flatron L1953S I'm working on now has a static of 800:1 (2000:1 dynamic) and I am more than happy with colour tones and black depth.

Must admit I am not a photo editor so I have no real need for high colour accuracy, I game, watch movies and program so the extra room 1920x1200 will be great for my IDEs and a 26" screen means I can push the monitor further back to give my eyes less of a workout.

also has 2ms g2g and 5ms typ which seems fairly good on the Iiyama

I live in The Netherlands and we have the E2607WS-B1 in stock here in various webshops, I ordered one yesterday and should have it tomorrow. I'll post back tomorrow what it is like. It was 330 Euro. Regards
