After deciding to add more memory and finding out that ddr is almost twice the price of ddr2 ,having more and more problems with my motherboard (2 sata ports have now died on me  ) ive decided to upgrade my cpu motherboard and memory

This is where my problems begin firstly which processor should i go for intel or amd im looking at either an x2 6000 or an e4500 atm but im a little confused about which one is better .On paper the x2 6000 looks faster but from what ive read the duo cores are better chips also with overclocking what could i expect as a stable overclock with the e4500 with a stock heatsink and fan.

Secondly i need a little advice on which motherboard i should invest in i need one with sli support for my 2x 7800 gtx's but something that will let me upgrade my gfx cards when i have too.

Lastly which memory should i buy ? (2 x 1gb kit)

im looking to spend up to £230 so any advice would be apreciated :p

thnx

Because you want to keep your SLi'd 7800GTXs you rather limit your motherboard options, it might be worth waiting a little while to see how the newer Nforce 750i chipset performs but if you can't wait then something like the below parts ought to do. You have a motherboard which supports two 16x PCI-E slots, a good 2gb kit of PC6400 and a CPU that should be good for 3ghz+ although as always it depends on a few things as to exactly how well it will perform and overclock.

its will kick the nuts off of the AMD system :)

If you cant manage to overclock the 2180, I think you me be kicked out of this forum and confined to the corner of fail.

1. open bios
2. increase FSB
3. restart machine

i think thats settled then ill be placing my order next week i think and ill have to but a decent hs and fan to really see how far i can push an e2180

thnx for the help and suggestions
