Hello, building a new pc been a console gamer for past 2 years and i miss pc gaming. Its between th i7 8700k or the ryzen 2700

I cant decide what cpu to go for. Motherboad price isnt a issue for me If my understanding is right the ryzens offer better value and better for general useage and a upgrade path a year or two down the line. Where intels win in pure gaming even though i seen some benchmarks where the gap is small and some where the gap is 20 to 50 fps which i consider a lot.

I will be using it for gaming mainly, 4k for single player games and 1080p for competitive online games over a 144hz or 250hz monitor. With plans to do a bit of streaming and video editing. Also plan to water cool the cpu.

I was leaning towards the ryzens even orderd the mb but the pure gaming performance of the intels is making me wonder if i did the right thing havea day or two to change my mind

And a question with the ryzens the x chips are pretty much overclocked out the box and use more power if i was to overclock the base versions of the cpu would they draw the same power and heat as the x versions .

Just wondering whats best for me and what other people decided to go with.

Thank you :)

Ordered a x470 board heard memory speeds was better and more stable. Was plaing to go for a 1080 ti but might go 2nd hand / budget route to get me by till the next gen cards are announced or till prices drop a bit more. Its a lot of money to invest in a grapics card when nobody knows whats coming round the corner or when.

My old build was a 1070 and 2500k so want something better long term :)
