At the minute i'm using onboard AC'97 and a pair of altec lansing 2.0 speakers... that were found in a friends attic and are probably around 6 years old.
I went into a local shop today and the guy very helpfully showed me all his soundcards as i thought i would be better off with this for an upgrade, but he said i wouldn't really notice unless the speakers were okay... i told him what they were and he laughed and directed me over to the speakers section.
Seems they only have altec lansing ones but after listening to some ACDC on them i have to say even to my n00bish ears the difference in sound over my own was seriously intense... and that was using only an old cd player as the input.
Me being me, i decided the most expensive ones they have are the ones i liked and being used mainly for music and watching movies the sound was incredible plus they have an infra red remote, which would be useful.

What i would like to know is if they are worth £100 of my money or is there anything else i should be looking at?
