2gigs of ram running at 4-4-4-12 or 3gigs of ram at 5-5-5-12, both are running duel channel.

Bit of a strange question but 3 gigs running 5-5-5-12 is better than 2 gigs running 4-4-4-12.
You wouldn't notice the speed diference at all so you better off having more memory.
