This may be a first on these forrumsand appoligies if posted in wrong section,

Basicly i am going about making a home made projector and there is one last step in the dismantling part and that is to detatch a ribbon from its connector but be bale to re connect it at a later date without breaking any of it....

Below is a picture of the ribbon in the connector, the question is how do i safely take it out and then re connect it?

thanks

Usually a wee front flap can be flicked up and that loosens it ready for removal... :)

I could be wrong tho! I guess there are more than just one way of doing it on the market!

Have a look at it, inspect it then decide!

it was a flip up but it turns out for the project i have in mind i need to keep the thing connected :(

the issue is with it beign connected, its not letting light through over the entire surface of the display....

To put it simple, i need to extend the length of the ribbon by a considerable ammount say up to 30cm. Do you know how i can achieve the extension / is there an extension ribbon / lead i can buy ?

it'll be a DIY job i'm afraid. i hope you're a crack hand with the soldering iron.

I'd say the best way to do it is cut up an old ide ribbon and solder that on to extend it.
Doesnt look too small to solder properly, just be patient with it.

You may have signal issues when done, doubt it, but check and recheck all connections with a multimeter once soldered.

Those cables are proprietary, and made for a specific application. They are not available off the shelf.
