Its a hard one to explain but on the back of the mobo theres are white strips that range from 1cm to 5cm, I have a feeling that on a previous Abit motherboard I had they were called oc strips.

I had a short circuit between my motherboard and case yesterday which has fried one of the strips on the back, it still works fine though but I just wanted to check what it was exactly.

Im guessing it may disperse heat to other areas of the board

mostly they are decoration - i think youa re correct however they were billed as improving heat dissipation. i belive they serve to improve the thermal conductivity between the layers and the different planes of the mobo, thus reducing hot-spots.

on my AX8 they are concentrated on the rear of board directly under the FET's, those being the main heat producer..
