I am looking to go GTX 460 SLI ( gigabyte OC ) and also use an X-FI Elite Pro sound card which requires a PCI slot

I need to find a mobo that will allow me to do this . I was looking at the Asus P6X58D-E but it looks like running sli would block both the pci slots

Help please !!!

I had this problem when I bought a UDR9 - I lost my PCI slots so couldn't mount the X-FI Elite Pro. I bought an Asus Xonar PCIE instead and it was a massive improvement over the X-Fi and when I get round to sellling the X-FI Elite Pro, it will more or less pay for the Xonar. I found it hard to let the card go because I really liked it but the difference is staggering IMO.

thanks for the replies .
dont really want to purchase a new sound card as i am very happy with the elite pro and not looking to spend on sound card ( but i will keep it in mind if all elese fails )

My case is antec 1200 so should be fine for all boards.

anyone got this board MSI X58A-GD65 and would sli and my sound card fit ? the gap between the slots looks ok from the pictures ......?

i just read a review on that board and it looks very nice
its on par with the Asus P6X58D-E for performance and it does look
to have very much nicer PCI-E slots.

correct me if im wrong but the 3 PCI-E slots on this board r all x16
the first and last blue slots you could drive a tank inbetween, GREAT?:)

please correct me if im wrong!

just looking at this thread and this board.. the slot placement would be almost perfect for what i want.
1 pci e x1 for my tv tuner
1 pci e x16 for my 5850 card
1 pci-e x16 for a possible extra 5850
1 pci slot for my wireless card
1 more pci-e long slot for a sound card

wow 5 usuable practical slots

may look into this as my p6t se replacement when i get an ssd
