Need help for a friend

Hi All, Can anyone help with this one?

My gaming friend is having trouble with his system, as it keeps coming up with the same fault, here is what he say's and his spec.

any help would be great.

I'm still getting error message 'failed cpu test' I used to be able to turn it on and off 2 times and it would boot up, now nothing no boot up and I can not get it into safe mode either.

I've tried everything, new cmos battery, new powersupply, changed all cards 1 by 1 to see what could be going bad? Re-built it completely from scratch too.

Its a Asus pd5ad2-e premium mobo, Intel 775 chip, 1GB ram, sata hard drive, . The pc ran great for over a year and the for the past 3 months I've beeen dealing with this error.

has he tested the cpu in a diff machine?

has he put a diff cpu in his machine?

was his system overclocked?

tell him to try clearing CMOS and then see if it will boot..
