Need help from the wise on amd cpu upgrade + motherboard chipest etc.

I need help here guys

I want to upgrade my cpu mainly because mine has decided to be a pre madonna and run temps of 78C to 82C on load all of sudden. through testing looks like it is giving up the gohst. it is a AMD Phenom 9650 quad 2.30GHz.

So answer me these qestions 3 please

1. My motherboard is Asus M2N68 chipset is MCP68, Is the socket AM2+ and is that compatiable with a "AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965 Black Edition "125W Edition" 3.40GHz (Socket AM3)" upgrade?

2. do you think my old proccesor could have fused to the MB at those temps?

and 3. Would i see a lot of game and encoding speed up benifit from the upgrade to that proccessor?

MY specs in full:

AMD Phenom 9650 quad 2.30GHz
Asus M2N68 MCP68 ( chipset = nforce 560 sb= nforce 630a)
8 gig ddr2 ram (dram freq is 400mhz)
vtx ati 5770
win7

I will remember the heatsink/cooler upgrade but i got my heart set on a new cpu now lol.

so my final qestion would be my manual for the board says it suppourts up to 140W processors. though here says it will only suppourt up to the 955:

and does the pcb matter? is my pcb fine? what is pcb? lol

think i will buy the 955 then when i need more spec buy a artic like you said and oc. just realized i was gonna pay £20 for 0.20ghz. lol
