need help getting a stable overclock on a i5 760 and a msi p55 gd80 mobo

hey guys,

ive been using msi OC geine for some time now and have decided to learn and overclock the proper way

now iv watched some vids on youtube of my cpu and mobo being overclocked, ive tried doing it and i dont think i have done it right lol

ive put the QPI to the lowest it would go (16)

raised the cpu v to 1.400v

DRAM v to 1.650

put the cpu base frequency to 185

cpu ratio at 21 (it wont let me change it)

have i dont it right or have i done is completely wrong ?
tbh it wont surprise me if i have as it is my first ever time

rite, ive changed a few settings now

hows this look ?

core voltage - 1.25v

core speed - 4ghz

multiplier - x21.0 (wont let me change it at all in bios

)

bus speed - 190.5mhz

QPI link - 3048.3mhz

DRAM frequency - 762.1mhz

9-9-9-24 timings

NB frequency 3048.2mhz

now all these readings are from CPU-Z, do they look ok or do i need to change something ?? remember guys this is my first time overclocking in the bios so please bare with me

i have also been running prime95 on the blend test at the highest temp i have is 77, average is about 71-74

please someone help, i dont want to run bf3 then something bad happens, someone please advice and give the ok or tell me what needs changing

how high are you wanting to go?

you're not actually asking for specific help? You're only checking your stats. It'll be different for everyone. Mine runs at 3.8ghz 24/7 on a pants Mobo, but yours could run even higher with the right credentials.

Bottom line if you can run a stress test without fail then you're good to go, but just watch your temps whilst it runs.

For me, i'd take the ~70's temps and not worry about them

i want at least 4ghz out the cpu, its at 4ghz atm but i just want to check if the settings i have done are correct

on prime95 blend test the cpu peaks at 77 but mostly stays about 74

also sholdent the multiplier be 20 instead of 21 ? it wont let me change this
