Hi guys,
so I recently got an SSD and a new cooler, and decided that until I get my new build in full swing I'd try and push my clock further, it was at 3.0ghz and i've got it to 3.2ghz on less volts, but can't seem to go any higher! My specs are:
Q6600
Asus P5Q deluxe
4gb OCZ PC2-8500 (4x1gb)
Corsair TX650 PSU
XFX 8800GT
CM612S cooler
And my current clock is:
AI Overclock Tuner: Manual
CPU Ratio Setting: 8
FSB Frequency: 400
PCIE Frequency: 100
FSB Strap to North Bridge: 266mhz
DRAM Frequency: DDR2-1003mhz
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel A1: Auto
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel A2: Auto
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel B1: Auto
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel B2: Auto
(Timings are stock so 5-5-5-15)
DRAM Static Read Control: Auto
DRAM Read Training: Auto
MEM. OC Charger: Auto
AI Clock Twister: Auto
AI Transaction Booster: Auto
CPU Voltage: 1.43750
CPU GTL Voltage Reference(0/2): Auto
CPU GTL Voltage Reference(1/3): 0.670
CPU PLL Voltage: 1.50
FSB Termination Voltage: 1.30
DRAM Voltage: 2.10
NB Voltage: 1.24
MB GTL Reference: Auto
SB Voltage: Auto
PCIE SATA Voltage: Auto
Load Line Calibration: Enabled
CPU Spread Spectrum: Auto
PCIE Spread Spectrum: Auto
CPU Clock Skew: Auto
NB Clock Skew: Auto
CPU Margin Enhancement: Performance
The above is 16hrs prime stable, temps never touched 60 (max was 59 on all cores) I managed to get 3.28 by changing:
CPU Ratio Setting: 9
FSB Frequency: 368
FSB Strap to North Bridge: 333mhz
DRAM Frequency: DDR2-884mhz
NB Voltage: 1.3
CPU Voltage: 1.47500!!!
but here the temps were 62 and for the 80mhz I can't justify the CPU voltage increase really.
I feel like I could get a lot more (3.4 ideally) as the cooler is doing so well, but it just won't stabilize, I can't use FSB-NB strap of 400mhz (to get 1:1 DRAM:FSB) as it just won't post and I need to reset CMOS. Can anybody see anything I can optimize or tweak to get 3.4? I've tried 378x9 and it won't boot at all.
What steps do I take next? shall I just drop it and stick to 3.2 or do I need to do some more tweaking, I have a rev. G0 chip so I really wanted to be among the 3.4-3.6 guys.
Cheers in advance for any help, sorry for the essay!
