Hi there. I need linux but want to keep windows in dual boot. I've got two 250gig sata hard disks (on a k8vSE Asus motherboard), and already have windows setup on the first one (just one big partition, NTFS).
I chose Ubuntu, went through it's setup procedure, let it organise all the partitioning by itself (i'm going to use the whole second hard disk), and at the end it said it found windows xp, and loaded Grub on the primary hard disks's mbr. restarted and no sign of grub, just goes straight to windows.
tried repairing grub (using the ubuntu cd) and installed grub on the second hard disk, and I get Error 21 when trying to boot from that hard disk (looked it up, it means hard disk not found).
is it posible to have linux and windows in dual boot on different hard disks? I have had linux running on the same disk as windows before and that installed no problem although that was fedora, but it still used grub.
Can i not install another one like LILo by myself (i..e nto through linux) becuase i know the operating system is there just don't have anything pointing to it. or can i get windows to find it?
any help is appreciated.
