Hi, this is my first post.. ever, theres are lot of clued up people in these forums and i usually can find the answer im looking for just by reading people's comments, you could say im a "long time listener, first time caller".

Im looking into getting a new laptop as my old sony viao packed up and now im stuck with the girlfriends netbook, i do have a pretty good desktop (six-core, GTX580, 16gig RAM) but i like to have laptop aswell.. im not too much botherd about money. around a £1000 is good. i hear a lot of people singing praises about the MSI GX660R.. but im also looking at the
MSI GE620DX,

I believe i have abit more knowledge than the average pc-world goer but not some much like the guys and dolls in these forums. Im planning to contribute for any experience i have. thanks for any advise in advance

Right, firstly, edit out the competitors...

Secondly, do you really want to do gaming on this? If so what sort of gaming?

For this sort of money, priority is for me warranty and aftersales support, then find a laptop and reseller to meet that criteria.

Will come back with options later.

i did look at that laptop but when push comes to shove i would rather get the more expensive one... more bang, but what i dont understand is the cpu.. in the GX660R it says in the description that the i5 480 is a quad core but if i look it up everywhere says only dual core.. i dont understand these things about threads (care to shed some light)

i do want to game on this,.. I would like to play some decent games on it.. for example i would like the laptop to be able to play skyrim, crysis, battlefield 3 etc because it gives me peice of mind that it could handle high end gaming.

im almost certainly gonna buy from overclockers because ive heard the after sale support is second to none.

Because it only has a 1366x768 display?

You can find the Vortex 2 15.6" if you want more horsepower ;)

yeah if its a 15.6inch screen its gotta be high res..

and i just looked at that vortex 2, if you try to build a similar model to the GX660R its about £400 more.. and it doesnt look as fancy ;)

thanks for all opinons.. i believe i will still go for the GX660R... price is about right.

one last request... anyone have any idea on the GX660R what the max ram is and max speed of the ram, some say the max ram is 12GB some say only 8, and the max ram speed i cant seem find anywhere.. only that its comes with 1066mhz as standard.. thanks again
