I am looking for a decent UPS to go with my new build due to very temperamental power in my house (power turns off when it rains, gets a bit windy or just goddamn feels like it). However have no idea what I am looking for and what my build requires in a UPS. My build is as follows and I've added a UPS and would just like a confirmation it can do what it needs to do, primarily, keep my pricey parts guarded against power surges and cuts. Right heres the build:

Any help is appreciated and thank you for reading :)

I'd suggest grabbing a surge protector initially, and as for UPS, the VA rating generally is an indication of how much battery life you will get in the event of a power cut. Higher VA usually means longer operation from the UPS power, which gives you ample time to shut down your PC safely.

The Dynamode 850VA you've chosen is an entry level unit, and whilst capable, I would consider something a bit more substantial such as the LMS 850VA unit we sell - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lms-...r-supply-with-usb-rj11-4-x-iec-up-001-ls.html . If you are experiencing sporadic power cuts, it may be even worth checking out the 1200VA version, which based on your power requirements should run for long enough to cover any minor losses in power. Either way you will be protected from spikes, surges etc by the UPS as standard.
