Hey this has become so confusing I could do with some advice.

Okay, I have my hotmail account linked up to my xbox account. My eldest son has been using this account, and has now got everything linked to it, so all his games etc are fundamentally linked to me. Now we've got to the point where he wants his own account and I want to reclaim my account as mine. I can't seen to do this. Is there a way to migrate the accounts or am I going to be stuck with my son using my account forever more?

My boy doesnt want to lose his progress and games etc, so he can keep the xbox account and I'll separate that from my email address, if that's possible.

I don't want to delete my hotmail address for obvious reasons. I just need to be able to separate the accounts. There must be a way to migrate. If I add an email, all that does it gives my son another way to login to my account, is how i read it.

Basically to add his email address to my account, verify it then make it primary. Then today after it all synced, I renamed my account to his, and removed most of my details. So he basically takes over my account. I can't remove my email address however so that is now secondary, and doesn't need to be used.

I don't use the Xbox at all, I only ever used my account for him. In retrospect I wouldn't be in this mess if I created him his own account from the start, but I couldn't get it to work properly due to permissions. I use Microsoft Family too, which is great on paper but the reality can be a pain.

He seems happy, it now says Hi Max etc, and he still has access to all his stuff as before. I've yet to work out if I can now play fortnite with my 5 year old, using a different account on the pc, whilst he uses his on the xbox. I think they were all integrated in some shape or form..
