Need help on choosing a game

So I recently got an £8 Amazon gift voucher and want to spend it on a PC game I can download. I haven't played many PC games before (only really have played AoE much) and I'm not really sure what game to get.

I was looking at a few of the Assassin's Creed games- 3, Rogue and Black Flag are all £8 and downloadable and they seem like the game I would enjoy- combat with swords and old firearms, upgrading gear and skills, open world- but looking at some gameplay trailers they all seem really boring, just running around places, and I can't tell what the game is about.

I don't like game with modern warfare or weapons and also I don't like games that are overly dark or gloomy in their graphics like Elder Scrolls for example.

I realise that there isn't a lot of choice left but I was hoping someone can help me out?

AC black flag would be my choice. fantastic game and you get to be a pirate, sail the wide ocean etc.

Just a suggestion, don't just watch the trailers, look for gameplay videos on Youtube or people streaming on Twitch, you'll be more likely to get a good idea if it's the kind of game for you that way than through a heavily edited trailer.
