Hi all,

so i recently bought and built my new pc, which im very happy with. But i need to finish it all off with headphones, mouse and keyboard. Plus some lights, but thats another story.

I currently have this mouse:
http://www.google.co.uk/products/ca...a=X&ei=lC-sTrz6DtDo8QPattGMCw&ved=0CEQQ8wIwAA

And this keyboard:
http://www.google.co.uk/products/ca...94193405&ei=VDCsTrhsya_4BtewuNgH&ved=0CAoQrhI

Mouse was bought, top of the range (i believe) a few years back but i get some sort of cramp in my hand when i use it for a while, like an hour or so, so looking for a change, perhaps a longer flatter one would be nicer? i really dont know much about mice at the moment. Keyboard... yea... it works, but nothing to rave about.

Would you all kindly make recommendations on mouse and keyboard; got another post in the sound section for my headphones.

In terms of price, im more bothered about "value for money" or "bang for buck" than being stuck to a budget.

Thanks in advance;)

Its not just "bang for buck", the customer service is outstanding, the gaming range of mice are just great, never seen a bad thing said about them.

If you don't mind spending around £120 on a keyboard, then search around on the net for a "UK Filco Majestouch-2, NKR, Click Action Keyboard". It's a mechanical keyboard which uses blue switches, which are designed for long term typing. It feels very comfortable to type on even after writing pages of essays.

Information on mechanical keyboards here: http://www.overclock.net/keyboards/491752-mechanical-keyboard-guide.html

However if you're on a budget the keyboard stulid mentioned is a very good one for the price, and Logitech services are one of the best :).

Im sure it is great, and comfortable. But it looks like **** :p

Can't really afford £120 either, thanks though.

That sounds like two very good reasons to buy logitech. Thanks. Do you think the mice provide much performance over what i already have? Do other brands provide better performance but only at higher price?

sorry, so many questions :( Just trying to work out why people rave about Razer but many swear by logitech.

Also, forgot to mention. I would love to get a mechanical keyboard. Are these the ones that start at a really high price point?

Logitech mices generally feel very comfortable and just "work" and feels right. If there's anything wrong, just contact them and they'll send a replacement in a matter of days.

I tried a Razer mouse during the LITS, and I have to say it was terrible to use... The sensitivty didn't feel right, and it was really hurting my hand after a while.

Ok thanks for your opinion, the good customer service certainly seems a good reason so buy. Do you think you could recommend a specific logitech mouse? or would you say anything from their gaming range is a great product?

i might buy one from *company i dont think im allowed to name* then send it back after i have tried for a week :P

a mechanical keyboard that is...

Ha, like your style.

To be honest, if there is a returns option that states "performance not adequate". That is the same as: It's rubbish and i hate it. Plus i get free delivery from said company, so it costs me nothing to do so.

On my way to free delivery from OCUK too :D

Just use the distance selling regulation then, order online and have it delivered, then tell them within 7 days from the delivery date.

If you're mostly typing, then go for a blue switch. If you also do a bit of gaming every now and then, go for the brown switch. Apparantly black and red are the best to use for gaming.

As for the manufacturers, apparantly Filco, Ozone, Cherry and Leopold are good mechanical manufacturers, I think they're more but I don't know any others :p. Just see if you can find one with the right switches that you think suits you and have a test on it.

My Zibal 60 just arrived from OCUK and I can't stress how nice it is to type on.

I previously had a Razer Blackwidow (Cherry Blue Switches) which I recently sold, as I was planning on getting the new Corsair K90 keyboard.

Unfortunately I couldn't get over the fact that it's a hybrid keyboard and has both Mechanical (Cherry Red) and Membrane keys.

So I decided to get the Zibal 60 (Cherry Black switches) and I am definitely very happy I made the change.

I can only suggest that if you can try out the different switches then go and test them out and see which one you feel most comfortable with. The cherry blue switches, are tactile (feed back when you press the keys) and clicky, they are loud to type with but do feel very nice.

The Cherry Blacks, are smooth, no tactile feedback and no clickyness. They are very smooth to type on, and I've just played some rounds on BF3 and I absolutely love it.

If you are in the market to get a mech keyboard, do your research, there are a number of vids out there on youtube which give you a rough idea of the sounds, and theres a great article on another forum about each switch type which i found very useful.
