Am wanting a 7970 but not too sure on the exact card. I dont know what the difference between the cheapest £230 and the most expensive £550. Is there a huge diffrence? I only want to run Lcrd of the rings online on ultra settings. So any advice would be a huge heal. Thanks in advance.

Hi Mart.

This is a good deal for a 7970:

YOUR BASKET
1 x HIS HD 7970 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with FREE Sleeping Dogs PC Game £319.99
Total : £330.79 (includes shipping : £9.00).

But this is a great saving. Loads cheaper and with a decent OC, can perform as well as and above a stock 7970:

The differences are coolers and clocks basicaly. They all are around the same.

YOUR BASKET
1 x HIS HD 7950 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with FREE Sleeping Dogs, Nexuiz, Dirt Showdown & CODMW2 PC Games £233.99
Total : £244.79 (includes shipping : £9.00).

Personaly I would get the 7950 and clock the proverbials off it :)

Is it easy to OC it? Can it be done with MSI afterburn? Also i won't be watercooling it would that make a difference?

Thanks a lot

Can do yeah. LtMatt has a thread on how to do it etc.

Watercooling would obviously help with the temperatures but with a decent cooler on it, air cooling is more than enough for 99% of users.

Good advice above but I would go with a non reference cooled 7950 if you intend overclocking and dont want it to be too noisy. For the extra £10 or so its well worth it.

Is there a lot of difference in the cheapest 7950 and the most expensive 7950? Or are you just paying for a brand and a little bit of overclocking?

Little bit for brand but mainly a better cooler, so your card can run colder and quieter, and sometimes better warranty. If you are sensitive to noise you are much better off with a card with a decent cooler, such as the twin frozr from MSI, or the gigabyte windforce.

am not bothered about the noise from but ive got a NZXT 810 switch case with a fan pointing directly at the graphics card. Would that make a bit difference?
