Right so i need a new Graphics card and i only have to spend bout £160...

Whats beter
Asus GeForce 9800 GTX+ TOP "Dark Knight" 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
OR
Asus ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB "Dark Knight" GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail (EAH4870 DK/HTDI/512MD5)

And WHY?

I need help on deciding
MOst people say ATI is beter but i never used it...
WHy is ATI beter than GeForce :S HELP

ATI most definately as a general all purpose gaming card

Why ? - Well depending on what stats you believe, the 4870 is either equal to the GTX 280 or soemwhere in between the 280 and the 260. Given that until recently the 280 was nvidias top card, you will get better value for money from the 4870

I myself have the 280, but thats only because I didnt have the patience to wait, could've saved myself some money if I had waited for the 4870

Lol Fergie as I was typing my response I went and checked the offers and was about to say exactly the same, then I saw "Out of Stock" :(

Out of those 2 I'd go with the 4870, better card than the 9800GTX+. It's just a shame that the 1gb powercolor 4870 is out of stock. The 9800GTX+ is on par with the 4850, the card below the 4870, so for the better performance it's ATi.

I don't see why people want to stick to one manufacturer, either ATi or Nvidia. I've been back and forward between the 2 over the past year. Started off with an 8800gt (Was the best card for the price at that time), then moved to a 4850 (again for the same reason as the 8800gt, it was beating anything nvidia had to offer for the price). Now with a GTX280, bought it when they were on offer, and would give me the best perfromance for the price again. I don't stick to just one, I buy the card that offers the best performance for my money, whether it be ATi or Nvidia.

I wouldn't go for the DarkNight edition as my mate has it and went to water cool it and the block dosen't fit as ASUS changed the PCB layout so the Full Cover Blocks don't fit, but if you not interested in watercooling it is a good card, I persoanly would go for an EVGA card myslef, as i have no porblems over 2 builds with them thats MOBO and GFX.
