Hi, I'm posting this soundcard question here in General Hardware as I hope I'll recieve a quicker response, need to buy soon.

Basically, I really need the option to record audio from my PC, like the "What U Hear" software function on Creative cards.

However, I desperately want to avoid Creative this time round, do the M-Audio or Auzentech cards support this feature?

I have enough budget for the M-Audio Revolution 5.1 or the Auzentech X-Plosion.

I know Fraps supports a record option but I don't know how good quality it is or how versatile it is. I need to record sound effects from games, movies and music.

I have the x-plosion and its a nice card however it is based on the creatives, I don't know if it supports the feature you're after however may I suggest downloading the manuals and checking in there?

Will do. From what I've seen software seems limited compared to Creative, but the X-Plosion is a better card compared to the XtremeMusic that I'm used to (which never works properly). I'll have to get another Creative if I can't confirm facts about software.

Wish I could get the Asus Xonar...
