Need help overclockering r9 290

I just got a powercolor r9 290 oc, and when I seem to overclock it when I go to play game (dayz) it goes black screen, I think I have it unbalanced and keeps crashing, also I have updated the drivers and it sometimes says your drivers have stopped workin I don't understand why! I'm not familiar with the new catalyst and not sure how to use it, or is there any other over clocking software apart from msi! Or I don't know if it's my psu, because it's a 600w but requires a 750w, but people on the forum said it will be fine and requires no more power than 330w

Does it run Ok at stock speeds? What speeds are you overclocking to?

Yeah runs fine stock, and I get consumed cause it's not core clock slider anymore it's like depends on heat of the card, depending performance!

These cards are set to run upto a maximum temp and when it reaches this it will throttle the speed down to lower temps below the maximum.

The better solution is to set a custom fan profile using msi afterburner so that your fan speed increases to lower temps rather than the card throttling down which lowers performance.

Wasnt black screen linked to motherboard bios needing an update in some cases?
