need help overclocking an X1800XT 256mb.

hey peeps, im pretty experienced at overclocking but this has me baffled...

6.4 CCC with overdrive says i can get 690/790 max clocks.... i heard that was conservative and so ive tried using ATI tool 0.25 beta 14.... locks up at anything above 650 on the core... why is that?

does overdrive alter the voltage as well or something or am i just using the wrong ATI tool? ive also tried just using 6.2 and 6.4 display drivers... same problem.

im confused totally now....

so i need to disable 2 ATI services (ATI hotkey poller/ATI smart are the only 2 i see....)

then install and run ATI tool.... use that to set my GPU voltage to 1.4 (from 1.275)... then i need to run ATI Tray Tools as well?

why?
