Hi all

I need help.
My Pc has just died !!
As I was working on it as usual and it crashed.(not playing any games) Now it refuses to start up.
I can try to power up but I don't get through post. Graphics card fan spins like mad as usual when posting but keeps spinning. CPU fan starts for a second then stops. There is no signal gets through on the screen so I cant get into Bios. I have also tried to resetting Cmos but still nothing. I have also tried removing all parts not needed, still nothing.
Any ideas what's went wrong???

Could be a few things, sounds like a single component has failed. Try taking a stick of ram out, determine whether you have a ram issue or not.
Try out your gfx and cpu on another machine.

When the CPU fan comes on and it turns off, does it turn itself back on? Like rolling reboots.

This has happened to me 3 times, it ended up been my Motherboard.

Now by removing the sound card and graphics card, ram and and then replacing them all I can now get it to boot.
Put all the settings back in Bios but now it wont boot any further than the WindowsXP welcome screen. I didn't put in any over clocking settings.

see if you can get into windows using 1 stick of ram, 1 hdd (the one with windows on it) and gfx card...

if you can get into windows using the above then it could be a power issue...

I see you have raid setup also there could be an error there? but try booting with minimum hardware first..

Thanks all
I've got it running now on one stick off Ram only. So I guess one is Faulty.
Now I've got problems with my Raid0 set up so I'm franticly backing up all data.

to find out if it is your 2nd RAM stick use a prog called memtest if you start the program before you sleep you can run it over night...but try the below first...

Instead of a RAM error I am thinking your PSU isnt good enough...

Try adding the sound card and other devices without adding the 2nd RAM stick...

If after adding all other hardware apart from 2nd RAM stick you can get into windows then it is your 2nd RAM stick..

If however you cannot get into windows after connecting all hardware apart from 2nd RAM stick then its got to be a power issue...

good luck

Thanks guys

Replaced the stick of Ram and ran Memtest86 3.3. There were more errors than I could count. Removed the stick, ran Memtest again with the one stick and no errors.
I guess I need to find some new Ram.:(

yup, I suggested to check your ram 1st because it did seem like a memory issue. these things happen unfortunately.

Don’t forget your ram is covered with lifetime warranty, as is every Corsair product :) find your invoice for the item and get onto the phone to the place you purchased it from and they will advise you.

Chase that warranty up! I wouldn’t want to be buying new ddr1 2gb kits at the moment, so so costly!!!
