Does anybody know what a "PCI Parity Error" is?

I've encountered this since I tried to reinstall Windows on my PC. It comes up just before the Windows load screen would.

It says

PCI Parity Error !

Press F1 To Continue, Or F2 To Restart

But neither of the F keys do anything.

I read somewhere that my motherboard maybe just broken.. But I really need help on how to resolve this.

Thanks for your help,
Naffa

I would hazard a guess at hard drive. Also you say after a reinstall? have you double checked the bios settings? defaults dont always work on every pc.

Try installing on a different hdd, and even on a different controller. Is it a sata drive?

If this still doesnt help, try a minimal install. mobo,psu,g/card,1 stick ram,1 hdd,1 optical drive

No error codes, just what I put in the OP. Thats the exact message thats displayed.

I only have a Sound Blaster Live! 24bit sound card. I get the same error when this is removed.

I'm installing on a Hitachi Deskstar 80GB IDE as I'm awaiting my 160GB sata2 to return from RMA.

If the motherboard is borked then theres probally going to be a fairly high end system seeing its way to the members market. :o

Thanks for all your help so far guys. I like feeling that theres help for me on these forums. :)

It's an nForce4 GIGABYTE GA K8N Ultra-9.

What do other people think?

Worth sending the motherboard off to be tested?

I bought it with another etailor.. Which I now regret... I hadn't sampled the delights of OcUK when I bought it. It was purchased last September, so I don't know if it's under warranty with GIGABYTE. I can't mention the name of the place I bought it from.. But it's the opposite of eSeller... Do any of you know what their RMA policy is?
