Just put a computer together and the motherboard is doing a continuous beep. Manual says power fault. Everything seems to be connected up properly. Please help me diagnose the problem =[

some basics.

you got a 20/24pin plugged into the motherboard, is a 4/8pin additional required near the cpu socket?

try just one stick of ram in different slots, repeat for the other stick.

did you use brass stand-offs between the motherboard and case?

cpu fan plugged into the correct fan header?

I5, 4gb ddr3, 650 corsair tx, ATi 6870, v8 cooler, gigabyte p55-usb3, 500gb separate.

All fans come on, then just starts beeping. No picture.

Yes. Everything is connected. One of the stand offs has gone in at a slightly funny angle. But that shouldnt cause that surely?

Basically the screw head isn't touching the motherboard, but the stand off is in correctly underneath. Wasn't given any spares either.

Tried a CMOS reset.

I think the only optioin is to RMA he board, ram and cpu as it's not possible to test in another system.

Another thought, can you try with the stock cooler rather than the V8.

The computer isn't even mine. I was building it for a mate. He has taken it home and is going to call ocuk tomorrow.
