i brought the vanquish package in july, had not had a problem until now. my colors are a bit washed up and its the seem with windows media player on windows 7. its also on my web pages, the only way i can explain is the pictures and text isnt that sharp. i have tried uninstalling the drivers for the 5870 ati sapphire card but nothing seems to work.

Can't really see the gainy effect but my eyes aren't what they used to be.

I would rule out drivers next - try getting the latest drivers and/or rolling back a driver and see if that clears it up.

Unplug everything from your monitor and plug back in then see where you are then.

i think maybe it's supposed to be grainy? Are you running the monitor at native resolution?

You said that media player had washed out colours. Maybe a screenie of that would help clarify the issue? :)

Also have a play in catalyst control centre's video options to control video decoding output (saturation/contrast/balance etc).

Final thing to try is a different set of drivers as GZA suggests

Things to try:

1. Different DVI cable or if done already try VGA (as last resort)

2. If monitor has a auto tune button try that.

3. Also make sure you have the refresh rate set correctly.

it's unlikely to do with the pci-e slots or graphics card.

you sure you're using the right colour settings? 6500k?

try default.auto tuning the monitor. is washed up colour issue is only parts of the screen or entire screen. couldnt see much wrong with the screenie you attached either =/

Yeah I see it now.

As suggested -

try a different cable if possible

makes sure refresh rate etc is set to what the monitor is

check the colour settings (reset to default)

try new gfx drivers (and old ones)

Then let us know

thanks for the help all, managed to fix it. uninstalled and reinstalled some old drivers and set the monitor to the native resolution and tweaked around with the monitor settings for a bit.

soon as i say that i get a BSOD and the text gets worse :(
