I've bought a i7 3770k as an upgrade for my system that is currently using a i5 3570k. When I installed the i7 and powered on the computer itself turns on but does not post to bios or and the monitor does not turn on. The computer itself is running as I can hear the HDD/ Fans moving.

I've tried using the integrated graphics hdmi/vga/dva and no signal at all.

I've also tried taking out all of the components and just leaving in 1 stick of ram with the cpu - flashing different bios/clearing CMOS and nothing seems to work.

When I install the i5 back in the computer boots fine and there are no problems at all, do you think the i7 CPU is dead?

Mobo GA Z77 D3H
Ram 16gb TridentX 2400mhz
r9 290 TriX
PSU Corsair CX600

Thanks

If it works with a 3570k then it should work with a 3770k as they launched together. It looks like the OP has tried flashing the bios anyway. It does seem to be dead. Where did you buy it from, Ebay?

Yeah I've tried the 3 most recent bioses, it was bought from CEX.... Never again...

Sounds duff, but double check the gold contacts on the bottom of the CPU, I had an i3 with a similar issue, and it was fixed after I cleaned some goop of the contacts. :)
