need help, problem with tp-link switch

hi,

recently installed a tp-link switch (model tl-sg1005D) but its intermittently dropping connection, anyone had a similar issue or any idea what the problem might be.

Dropping connection?

One device, or them all? All the ports, or just one?

Have you tried a different network cable?

Have you tried anything else to isolate the cause?
 
yeah, it mainly relates to msn/skype, it's like a little glitch that loses the connection then immediately tries to regain it, browsers freeze for a short time if u try and refresh them when it happens.

only one device at the moment, it was put in place due to another one being brought over xmas.

tried swapping ports but it hasn't changed the drop out on the device, same for the cable from the pc to the router.

connection from router to pc works fine, just when the connection is router via the switch.

lights on the switch:

power : on permanent
port for connection to router : flashes (not on permanent)
port for pc : on permanent when the pc is on.



no real idea what else i can do to isolate the cause ?
