Need Help! Ram install gone wrong

I simply tried to add a piece of upgrade some ram, the new ram didnt boot. So I out the old one back in. Now when my pc tries to boot windows it crashes with a blue screen. Any ideas?

reset the cmos, with the jumper or remove the battery for a few seconds

on your motherboard there will be a small battery you can remove for a few seconds that will reset the bios. there is often a small jumper you can move which will do the same thing.

Also make sure the ram is correctly and fully inserted and try another slot if needed

Its xp, its got the logo and the status bar under

no, its not booting anything. Is it possible I have corrupted windows?

throw your xp disc in and do a repair.

You may have. Is this a pre-built work pc, ie dell, HP etc? If you can take the hard drive from a similar model PC you could test that and rule out the os

no its a cheap custom build but we have simular setups in the office. Gonna try that then try using the repair install xp feature

I dont know how this is even possible, the HDD is wiped. According to the recovery thing on xp anyway. WTF is going on

Surely if you are getting to the xp logo then Windows is corrupt

must be, gonna wipe it now, most of the work in on a server so not too bad. Thanks for your help. Never seen anything like this b4, very random

If theres nothing you really need i generally just reimage work pcs as its so much quicker than trying to trouble shoot corrupt os or software.
