Oh Canada!
I'm thinking of picking up a console during the week of Black Friday but I am not familiar with the current consoles and I need some help

1) The Xbox one S, does 4K HDR blu-rays right? Does it do 4K HDR games? If it doesn't do 4K games, does it at least do 1080P HDR games?

2)PS4 slim- does it have 4K HDR blu-ray playback? Does it upscale games to 4K? Does it have any HDR at all?

3)Who has the cheaper monthly fees for online service (Xbox gold etc)?

4) What are some exclusive titles on the two consoles respectively that I can't already play on my PC?

Thanks!

1. UHD Blu rays - yes. It upscales games to 4K, HDR - yes.
2. PS4 no UHD playback, no 4k upscaling but yes it has HDR.
3. They're the same price as far as retail is concerned I believe, but in my experience Xbox live can be found cheaper on CD Keys and the likes.
4. Not Xbox's strongest point if you have a gaming PC.

Xbox
BC games?

PS4
Last of Us remastered
Uncharted legacy
Uncharted 4
Bloodborne
Infamous second son

Thank you for your help. I saw that the PS4 pro, which is usually $550, will be $400 for BF. That's a pretty good deal. I'm tempted. Comes with UC lost legacy. However I can get an Xbone S with 3 months of live gold, 3 months of gamepass, COD WWII and AC Origins for $319 on BF. When taxes are factored in the XBone S bundle is significantly cheaper. There are several games on gamepass that I want to play. Sunset overdrive, Master Chief collection, and Halo 5 to name a couple. Also, I own GOW 4 and Forza Horizon 3 on PC and AFAIK if I use my MS account to sign in on Xbone those titles are transferrable as they are "play anywhere", so for less money, I can get the Xbox with Sunset Overdrive, 2 Halo titles, AC Origins, COD WWII, GOW 4, and Forza Horizon 3 versus just UC Lost Legacy on the more expensive PS4 Pro.

The only thing still pulling me toward the ps4 is all the games on it I want to play. Horizon Zero Dawn, Crash bandicoot, Last of Us, Persona 5, the game with the kid and the wolf hawk pigeon giant monster thing (forgot the name), Uncharted... etc. But Sunset Overdrive on Xbone looks cool AF too so I'm really torn.

Are you 100% sure there is HDR on PS4 slim btw?

Does Xbone S upscale games to "fake 4K"? That would be great.

Do all the consoles in question include an HDMI 2.0 cable? Or do I have to buy one?

Also a bonus with the Xbox is that they don't get hacked every month or two, meaning less service interruptions as well as reduced likelihood of my credit card info being stolen by douche hackers.
Thoughts?

All PS4 models now have HDR, so yes i'm sure.

I'd double check the PC games will allow you to play on Xbox, it's 'Xbox play anywhere' so i'm not sure if they'd be playable on the X1 if you bought them on PC (Not sure on this).

Do you have friends online that game? What platform do they game on?

Both consoles have their pros and cons, the only true resolution to your dilemma is to buy both :p

Xbox exclusives also Halo 5 and Master Chief Collection and Super Lucky's Tale. I believe those cannot be played on PC.

Let's not forget Horizon: Zero Dawn on PS4..

I think as you have a PC the only choice that makes any sense is the PS4, everything MS do now they do for PC and they don't really have much to offer on the exclusives at all.

I honestly don't know if I can bring myself to buy a PS4 with all the hacks that have taken place. I don't feel safe buying their gold membership or online games given Sony's horrendous security record. I think I'm going to get the Xbox.

Sure it has a lot of the same games as my PC but it also has HDR and 4K Bluray playback which means if I buy the Xbox I save $150-250 that would be spent on the 4K bluray player. I also have one box less under my TV.

I'm thinking of grabbing a One S as there are several on Amazon Warehouse for £145 at the moment. Seems a good price - just not sure on the white!!

I bit the bullet and bought a white Xbox One S. Came with 1 month gamepass, 15 days gold, and AC Origins and Battlefront II for the equivalent of just over $200 USD. My GOW 4 and Forza Horizon 3 that I purchased on PC both play on the Xbox (with vastly inferior perf mind you)

Question:
I heard that if you have HDR turned on you can't do 4K @ 60Hz or even 1080P @ 60Hz on the One S? Any truth to this?
