Need help reducing boot time

run bootvis to get an idea of my system boot time, but need some help sorting out why its taking so long.

system is running xp home +sp3, c2d6300, 4gb memory, samsung 250Gb sata drive, seagate 320gb sata drive, samsung dvd-rw, x1950pro gfx.

i'm ok with windows seeing 3.5gb.

as for services its down to 18 processes at startup which i'm sort of happy with.

problem with bootvis it the gaps it shows at the start before explorer and the gaps between the 2 nod32 processes, which seems to coincide with the mrxsmb job.

tried looking up a few things but not really found anything telling me what im doing wrong .

already did that before i posted and tried everything without much change.

after digging about i found some references to the WORKSTATION service, which on my system was set to automatic.

disabled it and now everything runs in line with only the gap at the start to the point where explorer.exe kicks in and the mrxsmb entry that was taking seconds has merged in with everything else and the process creates are complete within 30 seconds .

blackviper indicates that workstation should be left as auto, so will keep an eye on it but so far everything is working fine.

will carry on looking around to see if i can come up with any other useful info tho.

Hmm I wonder why you have the Workstation service and I don't. I probably removed it from XP using nLite.

meh thats cheating

yeah fair chance you removed it as part of you're build as my system is still working fine without it started.

had a look at nlite before but never quite figured it out , might have to have another go at it for use in my next re install.
