Having enabled unofficial overclocking and pushed my 3d clock up to 995 core, I want to set my 2d clocks nice and low to keep temps down (especially in this heat). The lowest I can set the core clock in MSI is 745MHz though even if I try to enter it manually, which means my 2d profile has my gfx card idling at 745MHz! Can anyone help me find a way around this bug?

Set the 2D clocks of your card to stock clocks, powerplay should still work even when using MSI afterburner unofficial overclocking when the clocks are set to default.

Are you sure that its actually setting your 2D profile as that? All my graphics cards idle low when not being used, regardless of overclock and I've never played about with 2D settings that I know of

I had to create a profile for my 2d clocks or they just stuck at the overclocked ones constantly, but the slider only goes as low as 745 so that's the lowest I could set it. I'll try setting it at stock clocks to see if that lets powerplay do its thang.

Just have a second profile in afterburner set to your cards default clocks. When you activate this profile, powerplay will adjust your 2d clocks down accordingly.

The 2d clocks on my 5850 don't go down on idle unless I turn on the default clock profile, and never did :(
