I'm tempted to get an SSD but am quite confused about how I go about setting it up. I have a Gigabyte EX-58 UD3R Motherboard and a 1.5tb Seagate Barracuda drive.

Firstly, will my motherboard support SSD? What is the actual procedure for setting it up? Do I simply plug and play and use it as D drive for installing games etc? Last time I tried running stuff in Master / Slave configurations I remember not being able to install anything with an .exe on anything other than C? But this was back when 40gb 5400rpm drives were about as good as you could get!

Cheers.

it's different now with sata cables.

find the lowest numbered sata port (sometimes 0 or 1) and plug it in there.

set bios to load from disc and install windows on there.

other drives should be in the other ports just remember to remove the os off the current one you have

Oh I see so it's just SATA still? I downloaded Win 7 via Microsoft store so will make a boot disc with the ISO download option and give it a go. For some reason I thought it was a new connection type or something.
