Ok so i have a Netgear DG834N 270Mbps RangeMax NEXT Wireless ADSL2+ Modem/Router.

Wanted to set it up so that i can use my laptop wirelessly in the house. I used the cd set up on my laptop and set it all up via the wire through the ethernet.

Everything went smooth. But it doesnt work. When i have the wire plugged in it picks up the network as "yuccas internet" connects as local and internet and works fine. But when i try to connect wirelessly it connects to the network fine "yuccas internet" but it connects as a local connection for some reason and so the internet doesnt work!

I have used this lappy to connect to wireless internet before with no problems.

I have Vista 64.

The router seems to be working fine, the wireless green ligh is flashing etc.

I just cant work out why its picking up the wireless connection fine but as a local connection rather than internet and why it wont let me go on the net.

I would love some help if anyone can point me in the right direction?

Vista doesn't "pick up the connection" as local or internet or both. What you're describing is the symptom, not the problem.
Last I checked, Vista tests to see if it can get to microsoft.com to see if you've got an internet connection. If it can't, it says the connection is local only.

Have you enabled any encryption or set any MAC address restrictions?

But if thats the case then when i try to load google for example, shouldnt it work?

I was asked when i went through the wizard if i wanted to set up security which i did, but i tried turning that off and the problem still continues.

Encription, MAC address restrictions!? I aint got a clue, i dont think so. I followed the wizard which was very simple, and the only thing i did that sound like it has anything to do with the above is the security i added. BUt as i have said, i tried turning that off, no good.

It should work, but there's something stopping it working. That's why Vista is saying that the connection is only local too.

The output from start, run, cmd, ipconfig /all for the wireless adapter while it isn't working might be useful, as might the same for the network card when it's plugged in.
