My niece has been given a computer from there neighbour which is an old Advent 2004. I have wiped the hard drive and replaced the OS with Windows 7 but i am having trouble trying to get the sound to work.

Have searched the web for a sound driver for this but i cannot seem to locate a working file :( Tried Advent support but its practically useless with nothing displaying for support.

Can anyone shed any light on the best place to find sound drivers? Have tried AC97 media sound driver but that didnt work

driver pack solutions

drp.su

if it detects two sounds cards install the first driver, if that one does not work remove it and install the second..

all it to create the restore point some sound drivers bluescreen the machine

windows should install all needed drivers for you, have you looked at the speaker options to see if theres any green bars moving up and down to show that sound is working?

can you access the bios otions? you might need to switch onboard sound to ac97

Extract the one you need to say C:\drivers\

Then point Device Manager at the folder and let it scan for drivers.

To do this for XP, you need to get both the XP versions of the Sound drivers from that site, extract them to C:\drivers\sound\, then create an ISO file containing all the files. Mount it in VCD and let XP device manager scan the CD drive for new drivers
