Need help speccing up a PC for around 900 or so.
I'm liking the Micro-ATX form factor but am stuck with a few points as pc's seem to have had a few changes since I looked last.
One thing is the decision between, Ryzen 5000 and Intel 12th gen.
I was thinking of getting the 5700G as it seems to do it all reasonably well and i'd never have any concerns the gfx would be enough for the type of usage but I understand with that choice comes with some caveats like the need for higher speed ram.
I guess the Intel 12th Gen ones mostly also come with GFX which would be enough for what we would need.
This machine will mostly be used for music, youtube, web browsing, zoom etc but I want it to be fast and snappy as possible.
Typically we keep a PC for about 6 -7 years before upgrading so Mobo Socket longevity is not that much of a concern as while i have factored it into previous builds, i've never actually upgraded a CPU.
I played about a bit yesterday and arrived at something like the below originally but wondered if you had any advice as i'm starting to run out of cash pretty quick for things like additonal fans, cooling etc.
Fractal Design Define Mini 7 case - This seems costly but i like the look of it and it appears to be good quality. - £120
Mobo - Intel i'm not sure about but I figured with AMD b550 would be enough? I was thinking of choosing the MSI MAG B550M here for about - £130
CPU wise, I went for the 5700G over the 5600g because of the two additonal cores but maybe this is overkill.... £329.99
Memory, i'm not sure about so just went with what I knew in that faster = better for Ryzen and picked a 3600mhz 32gb Corsair vengeance set for - £125
SSD, I picked a PCI4 1tb NVME, I know the samsungs get a lot of goo dpress so picked a 980Pro for £130
PSU I have no idea what the current situation is, I want something fully modular and quietish so i figured this should do it "Corsair RM850x" £109.99
As you can see i'm starting to blow my budget, so I figured i'd get some advice..... I suppose with Ryzen i can stick with what i have, downgrade, or go for a non GFX option and add a discrete, it seems like these days most GPU's are actually for proper gaming, where as back in my day there were probably more light GPU options...
Equally, I guess i can pivot to Intel, My only concerns there are, I here the temps are high? But I want a small case, also I read they use a lot more power?
But either way, I'm up for views/ideas on all the products above, if you feel as well that i just simply need to raise my budget an extra 100 or so I think that should be doable if required.
Requirements:
Speed productivity machine
I'd like 32gb RAM for a futureproof build
I need 1tb of SSD
I would like the case to be reasonably understated from the front view, like either all black mesh or like the one i have linked, another case i looked at was the Lancool 205 which seems nice but i'm not sure about the quality.
